Every month is a busy period at Praetura Ventures, although this past month has been particularly busy with the launch of Praetura Growth VCT plc and a new division of Praetura Ventures (Praetura Investments) which will now be responsible for growing our award-winning investment solutions, including our EIS, BR and VCT offerings.

Praetura Growth VCT plc and Praetura Investments hits the press

Our major announcement broke exclusively in FTAdviser and then in publications everywhere, from business titles to regional newspapers. News of Praetura Growth VCT’s launch – the first Northern-focused VCT launch for many years – has also coincided with the arrival of Sam McArthur who joins us after a successful track record as COO at Puma Investments. BankiFi makes TechRound’s FinTech 50 and Patchwork named on BusinessCloud’s HealthTech 50

After a period that has seen key senior hires, US expansion and a number of new corporate partnerships, BankiFi has finished within the top 20 of TechRound’s FinTech 50 list, placing 16th. The list features some of the biggest names working in the space today and was judged by TechRound and several other independent judges. Elsewhere, Patchwork has made it on to BusinessCloud’s HealthTech 50 list for a second year running, having already saved the NHS around £40 million through its flexible staffing solutions.

Covatic expands leadership team following Series A raise

Covatic, which recently joined the Praetura portfolio, has expanded its leadership team, appointing Sarah Lawson Johnston as its chief revenue officer and Sarah Whitfield as its chief marketing officer. Johnston joins on the back of two decades leadership experience in the adtech space, including three years as part of Covatic’s launch team. Whitfield, meanwhile, joins from global learning company Pearson, where she was VP of Global Marketing, following stints at AOL and Outbrain.

Operational Partner Siobhan Almond joins Futr’s board

Futr has appointed our Operational Partner Siobhan Almond as a board advisor, drawing on her experience as JD’s former General Counsel and Company Secretary as it looks to further innovate and empower its clients. The appointment follows Siobhan’s recent arrival at Praetura Ventures alongside fellow Operational Partners Mark Horncastle and Penny Attridge. In addition to Siobhan, Futr also welcomed Mark Hurley as its board director, who boasts a successful track-record as an investor in VC-backed tech companies.

Percayso nominated for two prestigious awards

Percayso has been shortlisted for two major industry awards, starting with the Tech Innovation of the Year award at the Insurance Post Claims & Fraud Awards. Percayso is also up for the Service Provider of the Year award at the Managing General Agents’ Association Awards, following Percayso’s continued success in the insurance data intelligence space. XR Games named an Official Yorkshire Tech Climber for 2023

Tech Climbers, an annual regional list of the best tech companies, has added XR Games to its 2023 ranking for Yorkshire. Leeds-based XR joins 18 fellow climbers (whittled down from over 60 applicants) that have been earmarked for their top-performing, IP-rich and product-led technology and for excelling across impact, innovation and investment. wi-Q welcome new client Vapiano Paddington

Wi-Q has welcomed its latest client Vapiano Paddington to its growing list of hospitality partners. Working with the popular Italian restaurant and the financial platform Adyen, wi-Q plans to deliver a seamless guest experience, from ordering to payment, to better service Vapiano’s customers and support the restaurant chain with its digital transformation.
