BankiFi and wi-Q Technologies named on the BusinessCloud FinTech 50 list

Two of our portfolio companies BankiFi and wi-Q Technologies have been inducted into this year’s FinTech 50 list, with BankiFi appearing for a second year in a row. Headed up by CEO and founder Mark Hartley, the business has been fast expanding across the UK, Australia, New Zealand and North America. Meanwhile, wi-Q, which joined our portfolio earlier this year, has also been growing its global presence, having recently returned from a trip to the US and the annual CREATEC tech conference in Japan, as part of a trade mission on behalf of the UAE.

 

LCC announce £2.2m round led by the GMC Life Sciences Fund By Praetura

LCC has raised £2.2m of investment in a round led by the GMC Life Sciences Fund By Praetura as it looks to scale its global operation and grow its team. The move coincides with LCC opening a new office in Wigan and appointing Mark Jones (formerly of AstraZeneca) as its head of chemistry. Speaking after the round, David Foreman said: “We have been hugely impressed with LCC’s traction and the company’s ambition to date.” Paul Colbon, founder and CEO of LCC, added the investment will help ramp up production of LCC’s specialist chemical components.

 

Modern Milkman adds 200,000 more homes to AI-powered milk round

Modern Milkman, the ethical and sustainable AI-powered grocer and delivery service we invested in earlier this year, has confirmed plans to add 200,000 more homes to its milk round. MM, which uses Peak’s Decision Intelligence to assess demand and plan routes, hit local and national headlines following the news. Simon Mellin, MM’s founder and CEO, said: “Providing an eco-friendly delivery service is our number one priority and we’re passionate about finding new regions, routes and areas where we can make a difference via our unique offering.”

 

Patchwork confirms new flexible working partnership and MedTech 50 place

Patchwork has announced a new partnership with the prestigious King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust that will make flexible working possible for almost 10,000 clinicians in London. This marks a major expansion in the business’s service offering. The partnership means the Trust will be able to broadcast shifts to an internal network of approved clinicians, thus helping to ease the burden on the NHS ahead of the busy winter period. In addition to the news, Patchwork has been shortlisted in BusinessCloud’s MedTech 50 list for the second time!

 

Orka, Peak and Sorted named 2022 WIRED Trailblazers

Orka, Peak and Sorted have been named trailblazers within Manchester and the North West’s tech scene by WIRED. The list, made up of 13 companies from the region, is sponsored by HSBC and is a celebration of SMEs, including those tackling key world issues. The list, which you can see in full here, also pays homage to Manchester’s reputation as a hub for innovation.

 

Peak set to move offices to Manchester’s major Enterprise City tech cluster

Peak has announced it will be moving from its current base in Manchester’s Neo building to a new headquarters at Manchester Goods Yard, which is part of the Enterprise City development. The new tech, media and creative cluster is expected to welcome even more major tech companies, including Booking.com and advertising giant WPP. The cluster is also home to several of our other portfolio companies, who are currently based in Bonded Warehouse. The Peak team recently spoke with Prolific North ahead of the move. Transreport has launched a new website for Passenger Assistance bookings, enabling anyone to request assistance at their departure or arrival station. The website has customisable features, including display, and enables users to set their profile to match their accessibility needs. In addition to the new website launch, Transreport was also crowned Regional Winner for London in the recent 2022 Super Connect for Good awards, celebrating the UK’s best tech for good companies.
